2nd Largest Snow Storm to hit New Jersey

Well, I may never stop blogging about snow! It has snowed all week and I think the snow total is around 20 inches. The kids missed school Thursday and Friday. I had to go out this morning to shovel an area for Mia so I thought I would get a picture of how high the snow was at that point. It came up to my knees.
Later in the day the kids went out to play and they used the sled that me and Keith used to play on when we were kids. I love that sled. A lot of fun memories.
Believe it or not, the picture with the boys and Kinzi laying in the snow is our front steps completely covered. Of course we couldn't have a snow day without Kinzi making something sweet. She made and decorated this yummy cake. The buttercream icing is so good. These snow days are killing my diet. Hopefully this will be my last blog about snow and we will focus on warm weather. Bye, Bye Snow!

Atlantic City

This weekend was Kinzi's cheer competition in Atlantic City. We had a great time visiting the hotels and walking on the beach(which had snow on it) in the cold weather. Kinzi got 2nd place and did a great job. The kids had the best time at Harrah's buffet. They could not believe all the food and that they could eat as much as they wanted. They had crab legs, shrimp, sushi, roast beef, soup, salad, pizza, and about 15 desserts. I have to say I went a little crazy today too. I got off the diet and enjoyed all the yummy choices.
Now it's time to go back to school and back to the real world. I like this cheer stuff because at least we can go away for a while and it feels like a little vacation. Washington, DC next!

Snow Skiing at Bear Creek PA 2010

Valentine's Day we spent the day snow skiing and snow boarding for the boys. The kids have been wanting to try snow boarding so Scott let them and Kinzi spent the first 2 hours on the ground crashing. She finally decided to trade in for some skis and then all was good. The boys loved it and were very good at it.
Of course if you know Scott any sport he does he has to go extreme so he was snowboarding off rails and trying to do flips when he had a bad crash. I get a phone call asking me where I was and I tell him I am at the top of the mountain skiing with Kinzi and Scott tells me he thinks he broke his ribs or bruised his kidney so we need to leave.
We make it back to my friend Rebecca's house and they try to talk Scott into going to the ER but of course he won't. So now he is very sore and walks very slowly and living on ibprofin. I'm telling him the younger he tries to act the older his body is getting. " Just please act your age!"
We are back home and it is snowing and have another 4 inches on the ground. I don't think this winter is ever going to end but we will have a lot of great stories to tell:=)

Blizzard 2010

February 10, 2010 the snow started falling around 1:00 am It did not stop for 24 hours. The winds blew and the snow fell. 13 inches later Kinzi, Cade, and Carson had a blast in our driveway sledding, building snowmen, shoveling, and snowboarding.
The snow was beautiful and it was so nice to get 2 days out of school which doesn't happen much up here in the north.
The kids had cocoa, chocolate covered strawberries, chips and queso, and Cade made chocolate chip cookies on his own. He said he was 13 now so he didn't need help:-) The snow has been nice but I am ready for it to be warm and not see snow for a while. I think it has been here since the 1st of December and of course there is more to come next week. I guess we should take advantage of it while we are here. I will try to post more pictures in the next few days. I have a feeling we will be outside in the snow.

New Jersey Homework Frustration!!!

Everyone is going to have to listen to me complain a little bit. I need to talk about all my frustration with Carson's homework!
First of all this is only 3rd grade. We all need to remember that. He had to make a mobile and do a report on historical fiction. His was about the Revolutionary War. This took us two weeks to do not including reading the book. On top of having a project the teacher feels like she should give the children homework EVERY single day, including weekends!
This is a little of what he does everyday. First he has a multiplication worksheet, write 15 spelling words in cursive, 3 pages of spelling in notebook.
What tops it off is when Carson brought home this Morse Code sheet. She said he must write each spelling word in Morse Code. The next day it was: What is the value of your spelling word? For example- A=1, B=2, Z=26. Morning=90 Now, how many of you out there think this really means anything in the real world. It already takes my child 1 1/2 hours to do regular homework. Why in the world would we add this stupid, extra stuff????
So Monday morning this momma is going to make a phone call to have a meeting. Just to let you know I did not make my son do the Morse Code and wrote the teacher an email that he would not be doing it. The next day I did the value of his spelling words while he did his normal work. This has got to STOP!!!
At least the project is finished and he can turn that in on Monday and then a new week begins. I will save another day to share Middle School frustration! I'm not sure what is worse!
Thanks for listening:)
